ISRO Indian Lunar Mission: Chandrayaan 3

Chandryaan 3 is the Indian Space Research Organization's third lunar mission. The goal of the mission was to successfully land on the moon's south pole to gather knowledge and investigate the lunar surface. Vikram, a lander, and Pragyaan, a rover, were aboard the module. It was decided to launch the module on the 14th of July, 2023, Friday.

As the day approached, India successfully launched a rocket into space. The spacecraft makes its maiden orbit of the planet the following day, followed by four more till July 22nd in a 71351 km x 233 km orbit.

The spacecraft launches into the trans-lunar injection on July 25 while the shuttle inserts itself into the 288 km by 369328 km trans-lunar orbit on August 1.

Chandrayaan 3 successfully placed itself into lunar orbit on August 5; the following day, it reached an orbit of 170 km x 4313 km around the moon and completed the circularisation phase on August 14.

On August 17, the Lander module detaches from the Propulsion module, and on August 19, it enters an orbit around the moon measuring 113 km by 157 km. On August 23, power descent was supposed to start.

On August 23, at 6:05 p.m. (IST), India became the first nation to successfully land a spacecraft on the moon's south pole and the fourth to land on the moon safely!

Pragyaan ramped down the rover and India took a walk on the moon the next day.

On the 28th of August, it studied the presence of sulphur on the lunar surface.

As a valid Spaced member and a proud Indian, I eagerly anticipate the release of further great ISRO news. Keep studying and exploring until then!
